Introduction: Problem of traumatic neuritis of the trigeminal nerve becomes more actual in the dental health practice. It’s determined by increasing number of injuries of maxillofacial area, reconstructive surgery of the lower jar development etc. Medical literature contains information about the acupuncture effectiveness for peripheral nerves treatment. But no information about diadynamic transcutaneous analgetic electric stimulation of nerves (DiaDENS) effectiveness.
Aim: of work is to study changes of the skin hypoesthesia in the innervations area of injured inf-eroalveolar nerve when DiaDENS-therapy is applied in complex treatment of traumatic injuries of the III branch of the trigeminal nerve.
Methods: We examined 20 patients divided into two groups, 10 patients per group. Patients of the group «A» had standard postoperative treatment [group of control). Patients of the group «B» had standard treatment combined with DiaDENS therapy. Tactile testes were performed on the patient's skin for quantitative evaluation of the hypoesthesia area, one of the main symptoms of the trigeminal nerve neuritis, results fixing graphically.
Results: Quantitative evaluation of the hypoesthesia area indicated that initial indices of the groups were not different. Hypoesthesia area reduced in 15% for patients of the group «A» 14 days after treatment began. It was not authentically different from the initial indices (p>0,05). At the same period hypoesthesia area reduced in 42% in the group «B». It was authentically different from the initial indices (p<0,05) as well as from indices of the control group (p<0,01).
Conclusion: DiaDENS therapy included in the complex treatment has high level effectiveness.
